Response to: Classrooms have become unnecessarily high tech

So this is my response to this article we read in class. Its about how Matt Baxter states how we are buying unnecessary technology in classes, such as in elementary and middle school. If you wish to learn more here is the site:

“In the younger grades, however, students are learning how to learn, they are learning how to get along with those ubiquitous human creatures that still populate the earth.” Yeah this is true kids especially in elementary schools. Kids are still learning there basses, and preparing for the beginnings of what they will be studying in future grades so why not use technology? He/She are going to be using technology regardless and have to understand the basses especially in the advancement of tech as it is progressing very quickly. As they get older tech is a must for jobs and school. It makes life easier and classes will be asking you to do projects and assignments on a computer; and if you have a hard time using the computer how are you going to be able to get any work done correctly?

“ Very little in these early grades needs to be digital, electronic or high def.” Technology is important, and some are accentual such as basic computers and projectors. Others such as silly weird tech, why would you need it. As long as it helps the teacher teach his students I think its can be used.

Alchemy

2. What is something interesting - to you - that you take away from this chapter? Explain.

On the tape it also talked about the technology and how it spread so quickly. I was surprised how quickly it did just by trade and war through out Asia, and Europe. It also talked about alchemy and Alchemist came to found all new kinds of inventions. Because I've read alchemy before I found it found it very interesting.

Guns Germs and Steel chapter 14

1. Describe the difference between bands, tribes, chiefdome, and states.

Bands are very tiny groups of about 10- 80 people mostly relatives. With band they all shared the land instead of splinting the land for each family they all owned it, and they had no laws, treaties or upper and lower classes. Because they were all hunter gathers they move constantly looking for food, but since of there low numbers most were killed of diseases. They are still some Bands today, usually in Africa and Australia.

Now the tribes are a bit larger with about a 100 people in each tribe. They all shared the same language and culture, even though the tribe was made up of more then one clan. Like the bands everyone was related to each other in some way, so they had very little trouble with each other. So there was no need for laws so when they argued family members would come together in a group discussion instead. They also had a Big Man (leader) were he was not chosen by what he knows, but he naturally becomes a leader from his traits. Same with the Bands there are still a few tribes out there today.

An even larger group of people was called the Chiefdomes with about 1,000 people in each. Chiefdomes didn't last long cause of how much conflict they went throw, and of how many strangers they came in contact with. They had one main chief who was in control of the monopolies. He was clearly visible with his physical appearance. He dress very nicely and was the first to receive the best food they had gathered and farmed, but again cause of the many conflicts the Chiefdomes went through there are no longer any more.

Most of the world is runed but States, which is about 1 million people in each. States first began about 1,000 years ago, with a leader such as a king, or president. The Leader had huge amount of power, and ran all of the monopolies. States had a big economy, but the bigger the economy the more likely it would crash, like in Landon a few years ago. Also, because of mass production they adopted slavery, unlike the Bands, Tribes, and Cheifdomes for they had yet to mass produce.

Kris Wilson

Ok so during school we are chosing a comic artis and researching him or her. We then make our own comics every day and must have at least one by the end of the day.
Kris Wilson age 19 loves humerous comics, and sketching. Even though his not in many news papers he is known all over the inter net. He started doing his own comics one day when he was home sick. He then made his own website called comicazi, where he showes all his work. His style is quite simple The style of Cyanide and Happiness is best described as dark, and sometimes offensive. Frequent topics of humor include disabilities, cancer, murder, suicide, violence and ect. The comic does not always have a definite punchline in each strip, or may have several panels of "awkward silence" after (or instead of) the punchline, with characters simply staring at each other.

The lack of characterization is supported by the primitive drawing style. Characters rarely have names, and are usually only distinguishable by the colors of their shirts. This naturally precludes most character-driven humor. The male characters almost always have no hair, which became a joke in itself. The strip also features many pop culture references such as Nike and Star Wars and famous characters such as Lindsay Lohan and Metallica. Jesus also makes numerous appearances, often with the comic containing religious puns.

Guns, Germs, and Steel chapter 9

Question 1:
On page 173 Jared Diamond discusses the domestication of cats and ferrets. As it turns out there is something rather unusual about the domestication of these two species. Why are they so atypical, and how is it exactly that they don’t fit the mold of other domesticated animals? Explain.

A animal social structure is ideal for domestication, because humans can take the dominate roll of hierarchy. Since they instinctively fallow the leader of the pack they can be herd and taught to be domesticated. But members of most solitary territorial animals can't be herded. For example they can't tolerate each other, they don't think of humans as being the dominate leader, and there not submissive. These are very key parts in domesticating a species. For example cats and ferrets were domesticated, but not like dogs were; they were trained to raise food and to kill rodents. Were dogs, sheep, cows, etc. were domesticated for them to be used in large groups, or to be used in hunting circumstances.
