2. What is something interesting - to you - that you take away from this chapter? Explain.

On the tape it also talked about the technology and how it spread so quickly. I was surprised how quickly it did just by trade and war through out Asia, and Europe. It also talked about alchemy and Alchemist came to found all new kinds of inventions. Because I've read alchemy before I found it found it very interesting.

Guns Germs and Steel chapter 14

1. Describe the difference between bands, tribes, chiefdome, and states.

Bands are very tiny groups of about 10- 80 people mostly relatives. With band they all shared the land instead of splinting the land for each family they all owned it, and they had no laws, treaties or upper and lower classes. Because they were all hunter gathers they move constantly looking for food, but since of there low numbers most were killed of diseases. They are still some Bands today, usually in Africa and Australia.

Now the tribes are a bit larger with about a 100 people in each tribe. They all shared the same language and culture, even though the tribe was made up of more then one clan. Like the bands everyone was related to each other in some way, so they had very little trouble with each other. So there was no need for laws so when they argued family members would come together in a group discussion instead. They also had a Big Man (leader) were he was not chosen by what he knows, but he naturally becomes a leader from his traits. Same with the Bands there are still a few tribes out there today.

An even larger group of people was called the Chiefdomes with about 1,000 people in each. Chiefdomes didn't last long cause of how much conflict they went throw, and of how many strangers they came in contact with. They had one main chief who was in control of the monopolies. He was clearly visible with his physical appearance. He dress very nicely and was the first to receive the best food they had gathered and farmed, but again cause of the many conflicts the Chiefdomes went through there are no longer any more.

Most of the world is runed but States, which is about 1 million people in each. States first began about 1,000 years ago, with a leader such as a king, or president. The Leader had huge amount of power, and ran all of the monopolies. States had a big economy, but the bigger the economy the more likely it would crash, like in Landon a few years ago. Also, because of mass production they adopted slavery, unlike the Bands, Tribes, and Cheifdomes for they had yet to mass produce.
